This group was created to support and connect unschoolers in Louisiana. Although secular in nature, unschoolers from all walks of life are welcome. Beside planning physical get-togethers, this group explores unschooling topics such as natural learning, respectful/mindful parenting, joyful living, freedom and autonomy, living by principles vs rules, convincing family, surviving panic and criticism, living without fear, non-coercive parenting, deschooling ourselves, and letting go of controls.
Home Educators Association (HEA) of West St. Tammany
This is a Christian home education support group affiiated with the statewide Christian Home Educators Fellowship of Louisiana. They serve the Covington/Mandeville area just north of New Orleans. They offer organized field trips, encouraging parent meetings, a newsletter, band program, drama productions, graduation, award nights, science fair, spelling bee, a lending library, curriculum fairs, and more.

BESE-Approved Home Study Program
A BESE-Approved Home Study program provides Louisiana families the opportunity to independently educate their child. In a BESE-Approved Home Study program, parents have complete control and responsibility for educating their child. Parent’s primary responsibilities include: a) selecting and using the curriculum to teach their child; b) determining the child’s grade placement; and c) submitting initial and renewal home study applications to the LDE for approval.
